The Life & Times of Mommiehood

Here I am finding my way through uncharted waters.

Happiest Place on Earth.

What a crazy week. We had a lot of fun. Walked 50 miles. Spent loads of time together. Saw lots of characters. Rode many rides. All in all we had a blast.

A couple highlights …

The girl getting all decked out as Elsa at the Bippity Boppity Boutique. She remembered doing this last time and was excited to become Queen Elsa for the day. To top it all off we went and met Queen Elsa and Princess Anna at the end of the day.

I will try and post more pictures later, our Internets don’t seem to want to cooperate right now.

A highlight from Tuesday was the Princess lunch at Ariel’s Grotto. This time we were able to meet Tiana and Tangled and Princess Minnie in addition to Ariel and Belle. We’ve seen Rapunzle from a distance but not up close and have only seen Tiana singing in California Adventure.

Wednesday we spent a few hours in the park before nap time and then met some friends for dinner and Big Hero 6. Fun to see friends from college and the movie was really great.

The highlight from Thursday was meeting Baymax and Hiro. Not to be outdone by AMAZING seats for Worlds of Color after a tasty dinner. We also ate corn and turkey legs as a homage to Thanksgiving and saw a bunch of characters in both parks, including a special run-in with the Fairy Godmother.

By Friday we were all WIPED and the girl was not wanting to walk around anymore (in hindsight we should have rented a stroller for her, but it’s so much easier without one!) … but we had a good day, got some last minute souvenirs, and watched the Disneyland fireworks from our hotel pool deck before being totally ready to head home the next day.

Saturday morning we ate breakfast in the hotel with Mickey and his pals, packed, wandered around Downtown Disney one last time and headed to the airport.

Long week and we were all ready to be home.

Thankful for our adventures and ready to see where next Thanksgiving takes us!

thankful turkey thursday

So far this has been a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I cannot recall when I was last up here for the holiday, and I dare say it’s not been like this since back when I was one of the kids making all the noise.
Been great hearing all the kids playing and having fun together and enjoying a break now and then from the chaos.
Just rescued my iPad from several adoring children 😉

There has been a lot to be thankful for this year.
The hubby’s business has been successful. God has provided month after month and in ways neither of us would have ever expected. We are truly blessed.
I am in a job I love and now, for the first time ever will be able to focus all of my attention on one school.
The boy is loving kinder. We found him a great school and feel like he won the lottery in that regard. A huge blessing that he got in and that I have so far been able to manage my schedule to drop him off and pick him up. So thankful I can work part-time and get the best of both worlds. Well, most of the time I feel that way.
The girl is growing and healthy and super sweet. Such a joy to have as a daughter. And a great blessing to have nana close by to keep an eye on her for us while I work.
Family. We have been able to travel and see so much family, good times this year for sure.
Friends. Hard to build and maintain relationships with little ones, but there are a handful of people that are still around and always a great support. Starting in a Bible study/life group has been an unexpected bright spot as well.
So many things that I’ve enjoyed as well. My Pandora bracelet full of memories and my iPad.

I am one blessed mama.

thankful thursday: turkey edition

Wow. There is so much to be thankful for. Here are a few of the things I think of as I’m getting ready to head to bed.

Thankful that Aidyn came out of surgery and the latest report is that she is doing well. They are of course still waiting on the results of the tumor, but she is out of ICU and recovery seems to be going good, some pain of course but she is a trooper. Thanks for praying and please continue to do so. Specific prayer requests can be found on Aidyn’s blog.

Thankful for awesome friends and family. There are so many blessings in my life right now. I feel like I’ve been praying for great girlfriends for years, pretty much since moving to CO, and while I’ve always had one or two, this year I’ve got a wonderful group of women who encourage and support me and listen to all the stuff going on in my life. They even get excited for Stephan and his potty training successes! And where would we be without family? I’ve got a MIL who makes dinner for us once a week, who also takes care of Stephan once a week with help from my FIL, a mom and dad who let me chat them up on the phone and also get excited for Stephan and talk to him as much as a 2yo will on the phone. Brothers and a sister who visit or chat or play games online. I am so truly blessed.

Thankful for a wonderful hubby. He’s always supportive and doing things for me. Leaves a card when he knows I might need some encouragement, lets me call and vent during the day, takes time for me, does the dishes and a few other chores. I’m a lucky woman.

Thankful Stephan is such a great boy. He’s got his “terrible twos” moments, but what toddler doesn’t? Overall, he’s a great kid and brings so much joy into my life. I’m also thankful for awesome childcare. When I’m off to work I don’t ever worry about how he’s doing. I know he’s having fun and getting lots of love.

Thankful that my paycheck looks like it might be right this month. I’m still waiting on figuring out some of my paycheck nightmares, but I think this month might at least be right. Hopefully, all the other details will work themselves out soon.

Thankful that everyone enjoyed my pie and ice cream. Stephan was a great help yesterday. He helped peel, core and slice the apples with my fabulous gizmo and then we stirred them all up with the sugar, flour, cinnamon & nutmeg and the pie turned out delish! The accompaning vanilla ice cream also turned out good. I didn’t get a picture of the goodness together on a plate, but maybe tomorrow.

Thankful we might be able to start putting some money in savings. Gas prices are going down and my paychecks should finally be right and that should mean a little extra to start saving.

Thankful gas prices continue to D.R.O.P. I’m amazed that they are nearing the $1.50 mark and couldn’t be happier about that. I just hope they’re not going to skyrocket again soon.

Thankful for my home, my car and my job.

Thankful for YOU, that you care enough to read my blog … about the mundane details of my life.
