The Life & Times of Mommiehood

Here I am finding my way through uncharted waters.

Yesterday our kitchen/bath guy came out and measured for the cabinets. He also popped up some drywall in the kitchen under the counter top where they made scarce with the damaged wall and cabinets.

Today he called with the good news that we can in fact [closely] match our decades old cabinets! We will need to replace drawer fronts, but since we are going to pay extra to replace another broken cabinet it’s only one drawer front. What a huge answer to prayer. I was NOT looking forward to trying to get the insurance company to pay to reface the other cabinets or having to fund that with money we are trying to save toward a down payment.

He will most likely be coming back on Friday with the cabinets to put our kitchen back together. Friday. That’s just one more day without a kitchen, and no one is going to be home tomorrow anyway so that’s no biggie.

And, his buddy who does drywall is most likely coming on Friday as well. Maybe Monday to finish up the kids’ room. Then I can get the new wall painted and all that will be left is moving everything out to get the new carpet installed. Which I am going to go pick out and get ordered tomorrow afternoon.

While I would have loved to have this all done a week ago, it should all be done before I head back to school in 10 days (is summer over ALREADY?? BOO!).

In the midst of chaos we are figuring we might as well just dive in and fix up the bathroom while we are at it. The tub/shower should take three days and that’s the biggest project in the bathroom. The other stuff shouldn’t be a huge deal unless ordering the counter top takes far too long.

One thing at a time.

My husband Andrew and I have been married for fourteen years and love living in Colorado! Eight years ago I became a mommie to an awesome little boy and four years ago to my precious little girl. The past few years have been a whirlwind.
