The Life & Times of Mommiehood

Here I am finding my way through uncharted waters.

keeping busy (or nesting, nesting, nesting)

I’m finally resting with the laptop on the couch, but this is one busy weekend!

I’m looking forward to book club tonight and my early anniversary date with Andy tomorrow. Can’t believe it’s almost been 10 years! Where does the time go??

Yesterday I put together the Closetmaid cabinet we got from Target to double as an “end table” for the sofa and storage for all our office stuff. Our couch is so high we needed something just the right height so we really had to think outside the box. I’m hopeful we can find the rounded end cabinet to set next to this one to complete the “end table” and allow whoever might be sitting in the recliner the ability to set down a drink or whatever. I can’t seem to find it at the Target we usually shop at. Took me a while to get everything set up, and we still need to find some inside-the-cabinet organizing containers so we can better fit and access things like pens and paper clips and post-its and computer cables, but it’s built and I was able to get most all the stuff off the desk and in the cabinet yesterday.

This morning Andy and a couple friends got the desk and our old end table out and off to Goodwill and picked up the baby’s dresser from BRU and got it in our room. One of the drawers is a bit on the sticky side and we are hoping we can bend the rolling wheel into the right position and fix it as opposed to taking it back to the store and messing with getting a whole new one. That would just plain annoy me, and probably take forever.

One of our friends brought his son with and I had him leave Stephan a playmate instead of dragging him with them to get the dresser. Stephan loves having friends over and we are so rarely able to make that happen. We had a few interesting moments where we had to problem solve a solution before the boys started arguing instead of sharing but overall it went well. We played cars and trains and watched Chuggington, Stephan’s new favorite show that I knew his friend, who also loves trains, would enjoy.

After eating some lunch and taking a shower and getting Stephan to FINALLY take a nap, I put together my last project, the shelf/coat hooks for over out bench. We got an awesome deal on the set from Kohl’s and I’ve been waiting to get to the point where we could get the desk out and get the bench and shelf in the right place. Our drill, which NEVER works when we need or want it to, has finally kicked the bucket. Or at least the charger has. The drill is fine and basically new since we so rarely use the stupid thing. Andy was able to borrow his dad’s drill though, so I’m hoping we can get the curtain rod up in our room and the shelf/coat rack up in the “entry” soon. All these little things drive a nesting pregnant lady a bit batty!

One other thing we need to do is get our 0-3 month clothes and other baby stuff out of the garage. We have several gender neutral things and I want to get them put away and organized before we bring our little bundle home if possible. Granted we can get them out of the garage today or tomorrow, I can mess with getting them together Monday or Friday and then maybe we can just REST and RELAX next weekend, especially since it’ll most likely be our last before baby comes. I know Andy needs to rest, especially since he works so hard all week long. He got to go spend some time with a friend today and I’m really glad he was able to do that.

Phew.

My husband Andrew and I have been married for fourteen years and love living in Colorado! Eight years ago I became a mommie to an awesome little boy and four years ago to my precious little girl. The past few years have been a whirlwind.

  1. Congratulations on the pregnancy! My wife is due in April and we’ve just finished the nursery. So much to do – and so expensive!

You might be interested in my blog if you want to know how Andy might be feeling during pregnancy!

    All the best,

    Ben

  2. Thanks! Hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well for you both as well. Things are expensive, one thing that makes me grateful we still have several things left from the 3 1/2 yo!
    God Bless!
