I’m starting to think the whole C.S. Lewis thing was a bit impulsive and not a great idea.
Yes, it’s only been a week.
No, I don’t want to completely give up the idea of blogging through a devotional.
My issue is this. I thought the book was a devotional. Unfortunately, it’s just a bunch of random excerpts from his writings. No scripture references are included and I often have trouble understanding the paragraphs apart from the greater context of the books.
I’ll give it at least another week, if not the whole month of January, but I don’t want to suffer through a whole year just because I said I would.
If I do end up deciding that I’m not a fan of this book, I’ll work a little harder at making sure I pick a better devotional or course of action and my goal will still be to post something every day. Andy got me the A Grand New Day devotional from Women of Faith that might be more what I was hoping for and I also have one that takes you through the year focusing on Jesus and His life and ministry. Either of those might be a good choice.
My hope in doing something like this was mainly to get back on track with daily time with God. I don’t want it to end up being something I’m doing just because I said I would, I want to want to spend time with God, to want to learn more about Him, to want to grow deeper.
Guess we’ll see where this all goes.
