The Life & Times of Mommiehood

Here I am finding my way through uncharted waters.

is how i feel.

busy day today.

my middle school is always a bit on the nuts side. is that just a middle school thing? or is it solely because there are 950 kids and i had only one day in the building this week? might be a bit of both. as usual, i enjoyed a nice lunch break. good to get away even though the house was empty. i miss the chatter, but it’s nice to have a 30 minute break from the stress of the day regardless!

once the day was done i picked up stephan and figured we’d head to the library for a few minutes before the gym since we now have to wait till 4pm for the kids club to open. yeah, no dice. the library was closed for the holiday. so plan b. off to walmart since there were a few things not on my list yesterday that i remembered after getting home. walmart being walmart they didn’t have everything, but at least that got us to the gym at 4:15. stephan never wants to go play anymore so i’ve started telling him mommie has to go so she can be healthy and today went through a list of all the things he likes to do there so he could chose something. he chose the slide and when we got there decided to pick a movie. when i picked him up he was totally into a little electronic book. he has fun, just like me though, it’s hard to get through the initial i-don’t-really-want-to-do-this phase. when daddie was getting him dressed for the rest of our adventurous evening he kept asking if mommie was going to be healthy.

after that we rushed home to shower and then off to my school to watch the orchestra performance. one of the kids i’m working with plays and i wanted to see him. course after all the rishing and eating burger king in the car he didn’t show up for the performance. bummer. however, the other kids did a nice job. stephan had a good time. especially when the older, more experienced kids played a song at the end. i asked him if he liked it and he said, “yes i like this.” kept smiling when the drums got loud. then on the way home he said he wanted to play the violin. we’ll see. i’m thinking he’ll want to play the guitar like daddie but who knows.

here’s what stephan wanted to do instead of going to the concert:

jammie time

getting my jammie on

yup folks, put his favorite jammies on (thanks nana!) and btw, these are a 4T!

and some from yesterday when he decided, “i’m going to work.”

going to work 1

going to work 2

he’s so aware of everything and knows that we leave to go to work and what we take with us. i’m always amazed by something. like when we were coming home from the gym and he asked if it was a full moon and i didn’t know for sure so i said we’d have to call papa and sure enough, papa called to let us know it was a full moon. i wonder if someday this little boy will be an astronaut!
