Stephan was watching Madagascar today. He loves the “Move It” song. We are excited to take him to Madagascar 2 when it comes out in November.
Like all cartoon movies, there is a bit of violence. Nothing too major. In one scene the lion has a spider on his back and the hippo(?) starts trying to bash the huge spider with a stick. Stephan starts saying, “be gentle,” over and over to the hippo. We use that phrasing constantly with regard to the cat or when he gets a bit rambunctious and doesn’t realize his hands and feet can hurt others. Made me happy to realize that he’s really getting what be gentle means and isn’t afraid to point out when someone needs to be gentle. Maybe he will grow up to be a positive leader who can stand up for others. Who knows where that will take him!
Briefly, I am getting more and more encouraging news that I will have more time at my middle school. Potentially a whole extra day every week. This is of course and answer to prayer, but comes with the caveat that now I’ll be working 3.5 days instead of 2.5 days. Not that I can’t deal with this and will still gain enough in income with paying more for childcare that it’s worth it financially, but I’m a bit nervous about changing the schedule and giving up some time with the kid. I’m willing to give it a try for several reasons, so if everything does work out, I sure hope it works out well. I could certainly use more time, today was ridiculous and I feel so unorganized and behind. If you’re the praying kind, pray that those who are making the decisions are gracious enough to bless me with more time and that the money they have sticks around and doesn’t disappear for one reason or another in November (when the official state count for funding is finalized).
