ok, i know shots are a good thing. they keep binkers from getting an even worse illness. but he had to get five today at his 1yr check up. FIVE! was supposed to be only four but they were out of a combination shot so two that were normally combined he had to get separately. i don’t mind shots myself. not that i like them, but i can deal with them fine. but when they start sticking needles in your baby and he cries and there’s nothing you can do since he needs them … it just plain sucks. i gave him some tylenol when we came home to help with the soreness that comes after the shots and he’s taking his nap now. hopefully he won’t experience too many side effects with these shots.
i’m glad he’s healthy.
it seems like we’ve had so much drama with sickness and weight gain (it seemed he was sick with anything from stomach bugs to rsv to ear infections from february through april and the unnecessary weight gain drama was due to an inaccurate scale that weighed him wrong during his 6 month checkup–moral of the story: if you think yor baby’s weight is off, ALWAYS ask to have your baby weighed on another scale just to make sure). it was nice to just go in for his well baby visit and have it be a well baby visit. the dr. said he looked great and that he’s growing nicely. and i got to ask all my sleeping and eating questions and got answers that make sense and seem reasonable (probably because i read absolutely everything so i’ve heard most of it before). my only fear/concern is the upcoming “try it, you’ll like it” since you never know how many times babies need to try new foods before they will like them and sometimes i can be easily frustrated by that. mostly because i hate wasting food. good though that he can eat what we eat so if we open a can of beans he doesn’t have to eat the whole thing over a few days, we can eat them too. i’m also excited about this new phase, since he often likes to eat things we are eating. hopefully that will make him a bit more likely to try something new.
